This is another one of those Oscar nominations that baffles me. There was absolutely no reason for this movie to be 3 plus hours. Yes, the actors were good. There was nothing exceptional about this story. This was overall a good movie. I loved the premise of a drug lord changing their identity to escape the game. There were just too many glaring plot holes throughout the film. Amazing action/horror/ psychological thriller? I know they are completely different but I prefer this to the hunger games any day. The sense of fear, despair, and shock the kids have when confronted with their life or death choice makes the film exciting from start to finish.
