  Overall very cute, but I'm a huge fan of the BBC mini series "Emma", so I couldn't help but compare. And this version of "Emma" came up short.

  The one where Leo crawls through snow for ~2 hours, just so he could learn some lessons that a 12-year-old in Sunday school could have taught him.

  It's beautifully made and beautifully scored and beautifully everything, but somehow the feeling never left me that I am watching Actors Acting, Director Directing and Editor Editing for the sake of some greater good (whether that is Art or an Oscar, I cannot say). Moreover, I had absolutely no emotional connection with the story or the characters whatsoever.

  It's an excellent sample in the 'form over substance' category, but, boy, is the form gooooood.

  In the future, though, Edgar Wright should go out and meet some women made of flesh and blood, considering that the female characters are all cardboard cutouts.
