This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
One of the better black mirror episodes.
There are many subtle details they get right, and yet apparently there are “high-tech CD players” that makes this feel like how 2004 thought of the future.
Also, the overdrawn lips of Sophie Thatcher at times -_- I will not stand for cupid bow erasure.
Some great moments and while one of the twists was predictable, as was the plot the second half onwards, it was a fun ride and great to hear how much Deutsch I understand :)

Jesse Eisenberg is playing the same role (as always), but it looks like he is a better writer as he wrote this film and this was one of the film’s strongpoints. The other was Kieren Culkin’s performance, for which he has won both an Emmy and an Oscar for his portrayal as Roman Roy.
On one hand, this is dedicated to all the queers with strict parents who had to sneak around to watch Buffy (albeit this depicts Buffy with the budget of the classic
Canadian low-budget Goosebumps).
On the other hand, this suddenly turns into Final Fantasy House and soul bonding creepypasta as a live adaptation, with certain scenes feeling reminiscent of Naughty Dog cutscenes, and going into a surrealist territory that felt like an interesting switch in tone. The sound design was also👌.
Zac Efron on steroids. And if Final Destination had a prequel. Also does not pass the Bechdel test.
In all seriousness, it’s also the least A24 film of all A24 films i’ve seen from them so far. My main gripe with the movie is feeling that the Von Eric family had too much of a say about how certain characters and events should be portrayed.
