Jezebel 1938
Bette Davis is so enamoring. When I gaze into her face I almost start crying and getting emotional, eerily feeling a sense of connection to her. The first half of this film felt perfectly melodramatic exactly what I wanted. And then as Julie (Bette Davis) lost herself, I lost the film.

Utamaro and His Five Women 1946
Japanese Andrei Rublov. Jk but yeah this film is interesting in that it tenderly represents samurai philosophy, honor and respect etc. In terms of editing and style, pretty cut and dry. The woman is the icon here. Only one scene stood out to me as particularly beautiful which was when the women swam in the river.

The Turning Wind 1962
Here Rocha gives a fragmented and poetic experience. Beautifully shows a glimpse of a culture distant and resistant from modernity, however Rocha does not inform us clearly if this is positive or negative. Nuance and the aesthetics of hunger.

The Last Showgirl 2024
Nothing burger ass movie would much prefer to watch a Fassbinder to fulfill this sort of topic. Ok angelika should be banished, worst theater in nyc. Our girls night was ruined by the the worst seats i have ever seen. Who ever designed theater 4 should be eternally cursed.
