  The Reflecting Skin 1990

  Absolutely breathtaking cinematography and musical score.  Both of these elements were reminiscent of epic-ness of The Sheltering Sky, Days of Heaven, The Last Emperor or Empire of The Sun but unfortunately most of the acting performances and writing let the overall film down making many of the scenes feel cringey and over the top, despite the visual beauty.

  The Blackout 1997

  In a nutshell it’s Abel Ferrara’s “Lost Highway” set in Miami. It’s a sleazy, voyeuristic , drug fuelled downward spiral.

  Starts off like a trashy disjointed b-grade erotica, then crescendos with Dennis Hopper’s “Frank Booth” style monologue. Worth watching just for that scene and also for Beatrice Dalle’s amazing wardrobe.
