Maybe in ‘73 this was really edgy and graphic, but in 2025 it is just a tame, yet enjoyable, thriller. This film basically launched a whole sub genre of films so it’s hard to ignore the influence it had, but this one has a lot of weird quirks in it; the comically over the top ‘hoodlums’, the son in-law being a total dope, a 15-minute subplot in Arizona solely about this guy’s architecture project, etc. Solid camerawork, a great score, and lots of unintentional comedy elevate this to a 3.
