Was a bit surprised by how cold this left me, especially seeing the reception to it afterwards. I've really enjoyed everything I've seen from Billy Wilder up to this, but this is by far my least favorite of his.

This movie manages to be stunningly funny and stunningly horny. That scene where they're cheek to cheek on the chaise longue? Holy shit.
There's also a shot of the boat spitting up water in a kinda gross way that I feel had to have been an inspiration for the foam-powered car in Willy Wonka.

Kinda confused by this viewing. Johnny Utah looked different, like some kind of ancient shinobi with a prosthetic arm. He was way cooler though. I saw him stab a snake in the eye, kill some samurai general on a huge horse in a single scene, kill a giant ox, get dive bombed by an assassin (this was probably Bodhi skydiving), and kill another general and his consort of snipers. Was this the director's cut?? Maybe I accidentally selected something from the special features menu without realizing it. Ending was still the same, though.

Feeling vindicated in my anti-Point Break stance. Keanu sucks the life out of this for real. Best part was when Nixon mooned the bank, got a real laugh out of me. LA looks like a real shithole here.
