honestly the people involved should be deeply ashamed for this film lol it is verifiably true that the united states government has spent billions of dollars arming and training literal deaths squads in south america… and then to equate a domestic indigenous solidarity group with the attack on the embodiment of evil (the cia/state department) as both being equally terrible is a jaw dropping example of propaganda and manufacturing consent

the thing that pisses me off most about this movie is the deliberate misrepresentation of marxism/communists. during the party scene when exchanging blows with Pugh he says:
“i’m committed to thinking freely about how to improve our world, why limit yourself to one dogma”
anyone who has spent more than five seconds studying communism knows that marxism is specifically anti-dogmatic.
