A well told story. Had the best elements of the claustrophobic chamber piece, and the frenetic sweeping scale of 70s new wave cinema. Richly drawn characters, could have easily leant into the farce or the heist trappings, but kept dancing between each tone pretty miraculously.
I would rob a bank if it meant I could teach gunslinging dance routines with Penelope Allen and Carol Kane.
I have no notes, in the sense that if you serve me a plate of wet paper, I don’t know how to properly critique it as to better align you to make an edible meal next time.
I’m worried that any overzealous repudiation could lead some morbidly curious people to want to see it more. That is your choice. Cannot recommend this less. Made it through just so I could have the authority to say it’s one of the most poorly constructed films I’ve ever seen 🤍
Being repeatedly whiplashed from the very engaging scenes of scientists pushing the boundaries of their fields for the sake of weaponised advancement, to the most convoluted and distractingly cast courtroom Mccarthyism romp was enough to split the atom-sized fava bean that is my brain.
When the IMAX was IMAXing, yah boy was clIMAXing, but to have most of the film devoted to the salvaging of this man’s reputation was confounding to say the least.
