Four Weddings and a Funeral 1994
52 Years In 52 Weeks: 2025
1994Actually not bad whenever Andie MacDowell isn’t on screen being a terrible person. Usually I’d say a romcom where the two love interests barely interact is a strange move, but it benefits the film this time because she sucks the air out of every scene she’s in.

As is the case with most movies about Hollywood, the sense of self-importance radiates through the screen from the very first (admittedly good) scene. You never get the sense the film really knows what it wants to do with the material though, and the cameos don’t offer anything other than becoming minor distractions.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 1984
Realised half way through why I’d put this off for so long. I heard this was a huge step down from Raiders but I didn’t expect it so be such a slog.
There’s so sense of adventure this time around, the humour comes off as more slapstick, and the newly introduced characters are written as mere caricatures. It’s saved from being a total mess by Ford’s charisma and some decent set-pieces.
