The Monkey 2025
A great horror comedy that keeps me excited for what Osgood Perkins will do next. Christian Convey and Theo James are great as the twins Hal and Bill. The kills are reminiscent of the Final Destination franchise but with a more comedic twist and I loved almost every single one. Adam Scott, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, and Rohan Campbell were all really fun in their small roles. Though I do think the film could have done more with some of the characters. Overall it’s a really fun movie and a win for both Stephen King and Osgood Perkins.

Wolf Man 2025
While very slow during the first act, once it gets to the body horror/ werewolf action it starts to get good. The way the werewolf moves around and slowly becomes more wolf like is interesting and keeps the film tense. Though I wasn’t a huge fan of what the titular Wolf Man looks like at the end. The film could have been better too if it focused on the wife and child more than the main father who turns into the wolf man.

The Exorcist: Believer 2023
This film is well shot and well acted. The story is meh but they have some interesting ideas, it’s like a half baked version of Prisoners meets a half baked version of The Exorcist. Leslie Odom Jr is the standout and his performance carries my enjoyment of this film. I feel like the tacked on cameos because of the requel route were unneeded and feels disrespectful towards the original cast. If you go in expecting nothing you’ll find a few pleasant surprises but it is a let down compared to the original.
