Simultaneous farce, high drama, and mid trip. Deeply earnest, and somehow the most unsubtle movie I've ever seen that still left me a bit confused (not on the plot, which I more or less followed, but on what I should do with the ideas presented). My only real points of reference for this are Shakespeare and the Wachowski sisters but it feels like it is touching a million different things; I'm not sure if it all comes together in the end, but I think I love it. Makes me want to read a Copolla biography.

    I like the fast clouds.

The jump scares stopped getting me about 1/4th of the way through, and it completely ceased to be scary before the halfway point, but the atmosphere of the movie slaps pretty hard.
I only find the lore and world building half compelling, and the character work was decent, but overall a good time and worth the watch.

Very dark, with some big swings that don't really land. When the movie is Fincher doing basically detective scenes, it is really good, and there are some interesting ideas, but boy is it kinda a slog. It kept me more consistently engaged than the middle of Aliens, but never hits any of the highs of the previous movie. A bit overhated but not as good as some proponents of its reappraisal claim.

This was fucking beautiful. Explicitly and interestingly mythic on multiple levels, really feels like a triumph. Every shot felt incredible. Maybe I'm just biased because I'm a Christ fan (non religious agnostic but interested in theology and Christ as a figure) so this shit just rocks with me
