In terms of character development, this is masterful. Alfred and Ariel have this dynamic relationship that you don’t really realize is the focal point of OPUS until the very end. It’s thought provoking and has a lot to say about the struggles of creativity, but pretty much every horror element of this one is undercooked at best. It’s impossible not to draw comparisons to this company’s other cult horror Midsommar, which this one feels like it’s going through the motions of in a lackadaisical fashion.
