  This film is like getting tickets to a cup final and then turning up to discover you're sat directly behind Andre the Giant and his NFL linemen friends. Or watching Dune 2 on a the crappy LCD screen at the front of a National Express.

  The story was great, there were some wonderful ambient shots and experiential abstracts. But I found the PoV 4:3 so restrictive I could never lose myself in the film. For some scenes we're literally looking at the back of someone's head. If the intention was to make it immersive it didn't work for me.

  I found it an interesting watch, learning about a side of India I didn't know about. I am assuming that the servant lifestyle depicted is genuine.

  Having said that it is a pretty joyless experience, every single character in it is unpleasant and it's not nice to have to spend a couple of hours with them.

  There are shades of Parasite, and you could probably say the same thing about the characters in that, but there the joy is in the wit, beauty and technical skill of the film-making itself. The White Tiger isn't badly made, but it doesn't stand out in any of those regards.

  I could write about how wonderful this movie is, but I'm sure others have done that better than me. All I'm gonna add is that I really loved his jacket.
