Iconic, nostalgic, the suspense, the score. For late 70’s cinema Jaws is a refreshingly original & innovative masterpiece. Personally, I’m not much scared of sharks, I can without question see how it could ignite fear into the core of its viewers, especially at the time of release. Spielberg really created a timeless piece of cinema here which was pivotal in the start of Hollywood blockbusters and unequivocally shot his career into the spotlight and paved the way for the director to become known as one of the greatest of all time.

I thought the story was painfully slow at certain points but from all the good things I’d heard I stuck it out. Initially, I was left pretty confused with the ending of the film, which led me to a google search for the explanation, to which I still don’t completely understand but this is definitely a film that is better on a second watch, albeit quite messy in places. Overall I thought it was a good film, it’s age shows but still always better than the Hollywood remakes. Asian cinema is truly something that needs to be more celebrated in the mainstream!
