    Damnation

    We're all dancing in place, alone, while the soaking rain falls. Puddles drench our feet and numb our core, but we carry on. We join all of society at the only party available, going through the motions, but never really together. The stories we tell ourselves - that there's joy and purpose to be found, that another person may know the way through the tunnel to the brightness beyond, that we can possess the person of our affection, and that such possession will be our redemption - are structures that inevitably crumble under the relentless rain.

    I work with architects for a living and am pleased to report that this film touched on many of the challenges of that process, although never in great detail. I often argue with "artist" architects about the non-pragmatic elements of their design that severely restrict building systems (HVAC, electric, low voltage) from operating effectively and can even doom a building to early obsolescence by not considering future maintenance and updates.     Very well-made and uncomfortably tense. I'm still processing it, but currently don't know what it's trying to say about America or journalism.
