Beau Travail 1999
Very slow but packs power.
Lacks dialogue and plot but isn't quiet.Right from the start it holds a firm grip of the senses, with well used music/score and great cinematography. Carefully capturing facial expressions, physicality/movement and the harsh surroundings.
Expressive art for sure, however I have no idea what it all means. Aside from some suggested themes (sun drenched homoeroticism, lingering violence), I'm not sure what the film tells, if anything at all.That haunting sense of threat and anxiety seemed impossible to shake off and could have left an unsettling feeling. But then we get that perfectly timed ending. Superb ending.

Wonder Woman 2017
DC's decision to let Patty Jenkins hold the reins for a movie in their "universe" turned out to be a great one. She will be the reason they can continue cashing in, and hopefully, can continue making ageless quality entertainment like this. Judging by the result I'm sure any movie would've worked, but it being a Wonder Woman movie undoubtedly does makes it stronger.
