La Vie en Rose 2007
The nonlinear structure can be hard to follow and tangential (sometimes both at the same time!) - but every once in a while, a scene or a sequence really comes together and just works (the Marcel scene's transition to the stage, the beach interview). Marion is undeniable here... in the long, long list of Oscar bait biopic performances, she really nails Edith throughout all stages of her life.

Could've felt way more heavy-handed but smartly focuses on Eunice's stoicism when her walls are up (especially around her children) as well as when they're down in private. Last five minutes felt extraneous, but hey hi Fernanda Montenegro.
