    Modest in its ambition but a cast firing on all cylinders and a kinda final film Coen Brothers vibe adds plenty. Nothing new as such but watching the craft on display and the pervading melancholy tone really worked for me. Liked this.

    Eszterhas and Verhoeven put Hitchcock in a blender with De Palma and Friedkin with utterly tremendous results. Douglas has his will drained from him by a voracious Stone, giving a generational performance. Daft, beautiful, superbly plotted, just a great time.

    There is a brilliant 90 minute film in the middle that takes in corporate greed, original sin and a low level insidiousness that is breathtaking. There are even Malickian flourishes. It's a bit of a mess outside of that alas. Gladstone is the shocked, bruised heart and deserves awards glory.
