Easily the best Robert Pattinson has ever been, and plenty of great supporting performances surrounding him. I had a few issues with the screenplay, but it's delightful to see a film this original and technically accomplished to find a legitimate audience. Love it.

This film is actually built off of a premise I found interesting: a group of young people looking to escape the authoritarian clutches of Weyland Yutani on Earth by stealing a ship and grabbing fuel for cryosleep from what they believe to be the abandoned, decaying hull of the Renaissance, which had previously investigated the Nostromo from Alien.

From there, things pretty much devolve into a generic thriller that has been stuffed with easter eggs for fans of the Alien series, including a very uncanny postmortem CGI Ian Holm as Ash. Didn't love it!

3:12 am going back for more Nosferatu on 35mm. The density of the visual language in this film is honestly pretty stunning. Also it helps when you don't have to go to the bathroom and miss vital turning points. Definitely a worthy homage to the Murnau film, and according to my wife, a really beautiful adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Gorgeous restoration at the Music Box. The film is too long, and the WWI framing device is...weird, to say the least. The multi-color tinting is really impressive for the era, and I'm not sure I'll ever see a film that puts more human beings in the frame, and certainly not as much as this one does. I certainly know where the money went.
