The Monkey 2025
I can see how this probably gets too silly for some people, but I thought it worked. Nice balance of camp and authentic tension, with a pivot to pitch black comedy for the final act. Theo James isn't Robert Pattinson, but he does a pretty good job with a dual role.

Moneyball 2011
One of the best Sorkin scripts, if only because he manages to keep the snappy dialogue without being overly preachy. Philip Seymour Hoffman manages to be great without being big or flashy, and I think that is also a pretty good descriptor of the film as a whole. Everyone understands the part they play and how it all fits together. Much like the 2001 A's, they're greater than the sum of their parts.

Nosferatu 2024
3:12 am going back for more Nosferatu on 35mm. The density of the visual language in this film is honestly pretty stunning. Also it helps when you don't have to go to the bathroom and miss vital turning points. Definitely a worthy homage to the Murnau film, and according to my wife, a really beautiful adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Joan the Woman 1916
Gorgeous restoration at the Music Box. The film is too long, and the WWI framing device is...weird, to say the least. The multi-color tinting is really impressive for the era, and I'm not sure I'll ever see a film that puts more human beings in the frame, and certainly not as much as this one does. I certainly know where the money went.
