One Hour Photo 2002
First movie I watched on the Criterion Channel in a very long time. What a doozy. Felt like the first half of the movie was slowly slithering up the hill of a roller coaster, then bam! Your stomach drops and you’re screaming (on the inside, but still.) The movie was made creepier by the fact that so much of it is now stuck in the past, obsolete. Thanks capitalism /s.

This documentary spends more time with people in Savile’s circle pitying themselves than with the hundreds of actual victims. It’s more concerned with showing old footage of Savile trying to lean into “oh, isn’t that creepy foreshadowing?” than doing anything substantial. Typical Netflix true crime fare.
