Les Misérables 2012
I went into this with no context of the full story for the longest time. I only knew of Fantine’s song and it’s around the French Revolution. Some of the songs have stuck with me, I appreciate how well they seamlessly flow from scene to scene. This movie was so long, but I was attentive for majority of it which says a lot for my attention span sometimes with longer features. Costuming, set design, acting, and production value were all amazing.
My only criticism as faced with shock from the story - Eponine deserved so much better. 🥲

What a sweet, heartfelt movie. Going at the slower pace of Hirayama’s life felt refreshing to experience, and really brought to light the importance of simple pleasures. Even with the pressures and forces of the external modern world, he remains consistent and content with his routine and approaches his tense interactions with empathy. I think we all can find our own routines and prioritize what is important to us in our lives…
