Bong has hit the sweet spot on his satirical to scathing balancing act.
While not as biting as Snowpiercer or gonzo as Okja, Mickey 17 delivers in the means of outlandish circumstances tied together by unfortunately accurate political motifs.
The ending could've been edited to make the film land with a little more grace, but otherwise this was a great watch with excellent pacing.
A call back to a simpler time. King camp, monkey bad, odd characters, lots of blood, done.
Much better than I expected a comedy dropped in the cold of January to be. Some of the best moments of the film felted adlibbed and that's when the heart of the two actresses/friends is able to shine through.
So good to see Keke Palmer returning to the campy comedy she's so natural in. Especially in a movie that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Some of the acting felted stilted, as if the greener thespians had to wait, listen, buffer,…
