Abigail comes with a lot of the stuff I don’t like from Radio Silence’s work. Their “whip-smart” dialogue that often comes off as incredibly clunky, they often wear their influences on their sleeves to a cringeworthy extent, just most of the problems with popular horror that thinks it’s smarter than it is. But I dunno, I actually had fun here. It’s very dumb, no doubt. The aforementioned dialogue makes it feel more like these characters are pretentious high schoolers than hardened…

A Christmas movie where you kind of hate everyone shouldn’t work, but Sinbad makes references to Rodney King and Ted Kaczynski, Phil Hartman is trying to cuck Arnold Schwarzenegger, and they try to make you believe that a man with a thick Austrian accent is named Howard Langston. This movie kinda fucking rocks.
