I was so excited. And then left so disappointed. All I’ve ever heard is how great this is and how awesome this was. The plot was incomprehensible, most of the acting done by anyone other than Tom Wilkinson was flat, and no part of you ever had any stakes in the story. Gets two stars because some of the dialogue was snapping and score was decent.
Odd. Had its moments for sure. Honestly, the least believable part of this movie was being forced to believe that Tom Cruise is interested in sex.
I haven’t watched this since undergrad. Last time I watched it I ended up having a panic attack in my room at the sketchy house on Grand Ave. I’m now three months on anxiety medication and happily married to the love of my life, so no panic attacks this time. Tears were still shed however.
This movie is beautiful and so faithful to the book. The book was one of the most influential texts of my young adult/late teenage years.…
