I might not be in the target audience, but it felt like it leaned too hard with the member berries, the dialogue felt wooden, and the marketing spoiled the twist they were trying to set up. The only enjoyable parts were the production design, Matthew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson. It was disjointed in what it wanted to be and it felt too dull. And as the start of a supposed trilogy, it didn't get it's footing.

Todd Holland fails to capture the same spirits of the Monster High franchise, as the animated movies and cartoon does, in this paint by numbers Nickelodeon movie that ended up being the Wish version of Descendants.

The only thing semi redeemable about this version is the characterization tweak of Frankie Stein in having them be the ultimate fish-out-of-water as if they were just stiched together and resurrected yesterday.

The slightly humorous joke about Frankie having they/them pronouns is cute as well, given the whole 'Frankenstein' motif

Really good sequel to the cult classic that sets up a 3rd. The direction was good, but nothing beats Kenny Ortega's original. But this one of the better 'legacy sequels'

Bigger tricks, better sequences, better villain. Still don't understand 'The Eye' but whatever
