Megalopolis 2024
Megalopolis might be the only film I've ever seen that actually fits the 'so bad that it's good' cliche. It's completely ludicrous and insane from minute one, almost entirely devoid of filmmaking logic, and incredibly flawed throughout. And yet, in some ways I love it. I could watch this everyday for a year and not get tired of it. If you go into this film thinking that it is a serious drama masterpiece, you will hate it. You have to…

Interstellar 2014
“Cooper what are you doing?”
“Docking.”Seeing Interstellar on the big screen was a great experience and one I wasn’t going to miss on its 10th anniversary. It’s not my favourite Nolan, and I do have problems with it, but the emotional core of Murph and Cooper is probably the peak of Nolan’s filmmaking. I love Interstellar for that; not for its amazing visuals, or perfect soundtrack (though they don’t hurt either). Also I forgot Topher Grace was in this film and he kind of jump-scared me.

Mickey 17 2025
Bong Joon-Ho's latest may not have the cathartic perfection of Parasite or Memories of Murder, but it also doesn't need to. His first Hollywood film is distinct in its comedic elements and political satire, yet the symbolism and performances remain as great as his previous work. Pattinson is breathtaking in the lead role(s?) with one his best career performances, and he's backed up by a host of other fantastic performances. The pacing is precise (the structure of the film helps…

A Clockwork Orange 1971
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
"It's funny how the colours of the real world only seem really real when you viddy them on the screen."
The controversy of A Clockwork Orange is well-documented, and unfortunately tends to overshadow the film's visual mastery and social commentary. Kubrick achieves aesthetic perfection here, balancing a sort of retro-futurism with the contemporary imagery of 70s Britain, whilst the cinematography is magnificent. Sweeping tracking shots, use of slow-motion, montages and meticulous framing make this one of his best works in…

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 2004
Perfectly post-modern, insanely edited, immaculately ideologically articulated and passionately put together. Enough about my review; film was decent.

Longlegs 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
As much as I did enjoy watching this, I can’t help but feel it could have been much better. It’s got a beautiful aesthetic, creeped me out with tension at multiple points, and a great concept with real potential, as well as a decent story thread. However, I had a lot of problems with it.
The ending twist that the birthday party would be the final victim was so predictable, and that scene was pretty horribly written. Lee could’ve shot…
