  Sometimes nostalgia only hurts. It's the people we loved and lost but never wanted to be like. It's a suburb we outgrew before we were even grown up. It's like a sunset; beautiful but the roads are always darkest just before the streetlights.

  I don't think I'm qualified enough to speak on the themes of gender identity, but the denial of who Owen truly was inside certainly contributes to the pain of nostalgia. Owen grew up to work in a fun center, being apart of someone elses sickly sweet childhood memories, without ever being able to fully reconcile his own. Harrowing, poetic stuff.
