Having gone out of my way to watch some legitimately bad Bette Midler movies, I actually found this enjoyable. However, I was disappointed that the newspaper in the oven didn't end up burning down the house.

The Beyond 1981
The Beyond had me from the prologue, but it lost me in the middle act leading up to the extravagant but pointless acid-pouring scene. I have a lot of patience for these set-bound Granada miniseries. I find it easy to accept the stagy acting style and the tightly controlled camera work, although the spell is broken when the cast ventures out-of-doors to bundle into a carriage.
