Ice Princess 2005
formative in my childhood. a genuinely positive movie that doesn’t manage to feel cringe when i watch it many many years later. i, too, almost cried with joan cusack at the end of the movie.
michelle trachtenberg had an insane level of charm and charisma to her acting. i grew up loving her because of this movie. i am crushed she is no longer with us at such a young age.
everything else is also incredible. kim cattrall???? hayden panettiere?…

there are better hitchcock movies but i love the usage of color here. directors who made the jump from black and white to color usually took the greatest advantage of it. honestly a lost art in modern cinema. anyway alfred hitchcock can do anything and i’m like 🫡 sir yes sir.
tippi hendren and sean connery !!! jesus.

Wish 2023
this movie feels like a natural culmination of everything disney has become in the 21st century, which is effectively a factory line for nostalgic references to other, better movies they once made and now, clearly, cannot compete with. that, or capitalism is evil. i guess we’ll never know!
so much of this movie rings hollow to me. this is the rise of skywalker of disney animation movies. there is nothing important or valuable being said here; it’s just a vehicle…
