Love, love, loved it, and it is definitely an important film. But I'll leave all the reckons to people who know more than me about the reasons why it's important.
Teeeerrrrrrrible movie, APART FROM the girlfriend sleepover dance to Push It. That ruled, and that 20 seconds earned one star.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I saw a preview of this and thought "ooh, I like Anne Hathaway."
I don't like Anne Hathaway anymore.
She plays a wet character who you spend the whole movie hoping will redeem herself (and weirdly hoping Hathaway's attempt at a British accent will also redeem itself) and when she kind of starts to, she gets hit by a bus. Yes, literally.
So no redeeming of anything.
(And I super hate it when people die for no reason in movies and you're left feeling like you've been held hostage at a wedding by one of drunk Uncle Neil's shit yarns.)
Caveat: I saw this on a long-haul flight with crap sound and a toddler kicking my back.
I love Matt Damon. But I didn't love this. Good theme, but wet narrative and poor development of characters. I didn't care about them. Needed L.M. Montgomery to get in there with some interesting Anne-types.
