  Life is sad and requires sacrifice. But that doesn't always mean there will be something waiting for you in the end. Ozu understood this and while he didn't expect much from life, he knew that everyone deserves happiness in their own small way and it is ultimately up to you to find it if you can.

  I asked one of my friends if he would be willing to watch this and tell me his thoughts, and he sent me a beautiful message. He told me about how lately he’d been thinking about how every step he takes towards his future moves him further away from his past, and how this film resonated with him and was a reminder of that thought and how it scared him. It is funny how we all as humans sometimes forget…

  This is a film that I’d been putting off for the longest time, but I felt like I had to watch it tonight, without getting too specific. This is a heart-breakingly painful movie, but it never makes you feel guilty for feeling the way you do, instead it just holds you tight and says “it’s all going to be okay. If it’s not, I’ll be there to pull you out”. Just one of the most beautiful beautiful movies I’ve seen in a long time, and one that I’ll hold close to my heart probably for the rest of my life.
