I would love to be able to endorse this more strongly, but alas, I think this movie is a little too obsessed with being smart that it forgets to be fun. I had to fight off a nap despite a 93-minute run time.
Apologies to Gen Z, but this thing really could've used a sex scene.
It could just be a case where this surpassed my extremely low expectations, but I didn't mind this at all. I even thought it started out strong, before settling for mediocrity after Chris Pratt showed up. The retro 90s steampunk-esque robots are sort of charming, in a way.
I like Irene Dunne a lot, but Melvyn Douglas is such a jerk in this one. The plot gets pretty convoluted too.
