    Not so a much a movie about the legendary beast but about those who search for him, this is a fascinating little movie following three sets of Bigfoot hunters. It gives us an intriguing look at some very colourful characters, but it is ultimately a character-led piece, with few conclusions drawn.

    I can't help feeling that more context would useful, as I'm fairly sure these guys are not exactly representative of most Bigfoot researchers and some background on the Bigfoot…

    The first big bug movie of the 1950s - indeed the movie that unleashed a whole slew of gigantic and/or radioactive menaces. But besides being enormously influential Them! is still highly entertaining some 60 years later. It's fairly fast paced and while it's content is highly familiar - after all this movie is the template for countless others - it's still very engaging.

    The plotting is tight with great performances from the human cast - future Gunsmoke star James Arness…

    This adaptation of James Herbert's 1988 novel of the same name slipped out quietly in 1995 and has largely been ignored. Critics at the time gave it a rough ride claiming it was neither suspenseful nor frightening. However I firmly think that this was a case of a movie simply appearing at the wrong time, for a few years later the same critics would be going ape for traditional ghost stories in the form of The Sixth Sense, The Others…
