I waited too long to review this movie so i’m not gonna go into it but honestly guys relax. Y’all were talking about this movie like it was a Madame Web. It was fine. It wasn’t good but I didn’t walk away feeling offended at how it wasted my time. 🙄
My reaction at the end of this movie was “oh this was PRODUCED by Zach Cregger! That makes so much more sense.”
Besides the conceit of the movie and the Second Twist, I never felt that interested. It’s never too clever with its story-telling, it’s not the most thought provoking with its themes, and it’s not really ever that shocking for a horror movie. It’s not fair to compare this to Barbarian (I mean, the advertising insisted on it) but…

The suspense gripped me all the way up to the actual moments of horror, which were, upon review, charmingly hokey. I felt like I was watching Dude Bro Party Massacre minus any trace of irony. Which wasn’t a bad thing! The cheesy practical effects and camera angles provided a fun contrast to the painstaking detail work they put into the set and costumes. I could have done without so many Disney Channel Original Movie lightning effects but that’s just nitpicking.…
