At least the crew was smarter and more professional than on Prometheus.

The Tale of Zatoichi 1962
The first, and my first, classic Zatoichi movie. This is very good, but I also really like this genre of the wandering warrior, like the Lone Wolf and Cub movies, Yojimbo, etc. This is an excellent movie in that genre. Zatoichi is a great character. He feels very human and empathic and not as stoic as many other hero characters. There are fights in this movie, but it’s mostly about character. It has the trope of the young woman falling in love with him, perhaps a little bit too easily, but I really love, love, the final scene. It’s perfect.

Heat and Dust 1983
Note to myself when rewatching this: skip everything in the modern timeline, because it was just a distraction without much motivation on its own. It’s barely in the movie anyway. They should have cut it all out, but I guess cutting Julie Christie out would have been bad for marketing. My rating is disregarding the modern timeline.
