I don’t understand why there have been so many films recently with bad scripts. For this having the largest budget for a Netflix movie at $320 million, you would think they would hire someone better to write this thing.
I will give it to Netflix and the Russo brothers, though, that the attention to detail with small visual aspects of the story was impressive at times. The fact that no one robot looked like the other was unique.

This was a wild time, and I was very here for it! The nonsense moments of physical comedy were strategically placed and hit the mark a lot of times for me. The storyline was a little hard to follow here and there, but the performances made the entire movie enjoyable despite this.
Films with POV elements have been done before and have failed. But Nickel Boys that it can be done well. I’m ashamed I hadn’t heard of the events at the Florida School for Boys prior to watching this. Taking a factionalized POV approach to a story like this was a smart and respectful choice. Props to the filmmakers for not simply throwing black trauma in our faces and rather highlighting a blossoming friendship that was formed through dark times. That…
