    People throw around the term Oscar-bait movie, and obviously this one was successful. For me, an Oscar-bait movie isn’t a negative term because they’re at least shooting for something different, which I appreciate.

    The cinematography, editing, score, and acting are obviously world class. And considering this is an adapted screenplay, Berger obviously did an incredible job! The question is if the source material that inspired this adaptation compelling for me. It isn’t. This movie does its best to try and get me to care through its craft, but, ultimately, I just never really ended up getting invested in this movie despite Ralph Fiennes’ great performance.

    Don’t let my rating fool you, I really liked this movie. I enjoyed it a lot more than expected. This even had the potential to surpass Knives Out but it didn’t quite deliver ultimately. 

    However, what works for both these movies is Daniel Craig being amazing and the charm from either Ana De Armas or Janelle Monae (both women just had absolutely standout performances). 

    While this movie has a fun twist in the pacing and direction I wasn’t expecting which…
