Anora 2024
The first and final third of Anora made me want to die. If I was a Double-O agent, I would have cracked the cyanide capsule in my back tooth 17 minutes in, and if it had failed, and burnt my face and throat instead of killing me instantly, then at least the immeasurable pain I’d be in would be a welcome distraction from this star-spangled hell journey.
Mikey Madison however, gave her all in this, and is certainly deserving of the accolades and awards being dished out.

Upon hearing of the death of Gene Hackman, my obvious thought was to rewatch The French Connection, my absolute favourite film of all time. Beetlejuice 1988
I first watched Beetlejuice at six years old, when my grandmother bought me a copy on VHS without my mother knowing. She did this two further times, once with Dumb & Dumber and then The Shining. That was the last time I ever stayed overnight at my grandmothers and I believe that my movie-watching experiences diminished significantly after that. This is for reference the same grandmother who encouraged me to drink brandy at the same tender age.
