This was a solid watch with a few gripes.

The good: interesting idea, charming acting from Jack Quaid and Amber Midthunder, really fun fights scenes and a few badass hero moments (Kickboxer anyone?) make for an over all fun time.

It pushed towards edgelord territory but never got there, instead having the audacity to have a heart. Mostly via Jack Quaid who keeps surprising me

    The BAD
Ray fucking Nicholson. Why didn't anyone tell me my arch nemesis was in this movie? I'll never be able to let him doing the Kubrick stare in Smile 2 go.

Solid thriller with a bunch of spies so cool they barely seem human. Cate Blachet is, again, leaning into noir dame vamp and Fassbender played his usual robotic dude. It's a solid script with interesting characters, Pierce Brosnan is back in spy territory which is nice. Dude from Furiosa was solid.

I need to know what was going on with that fish though.

    Okay, The Monkey round two.

I enjoyed this far more the second time, now that I understand what I'm dealing with. The first time my brain was trying to make it something it wasn't. Once I realized that it's just Oz Perkins doing his version of Are You Afraid of the Dark or Tales from the Darkside or any of those late eighties, early nineties horror anthology shows. It's silly in the way those shows were silly, and then it's dialed up to 11. Loved it.
