Andrew Scott is quite simply one of the most intricate theatrical actors I have ever seen. Not that I’ve seen a lot. But he sours above all.
So curious that his Sonya is just as strong as his Astrov and his Yelena, if not stronger. And even more curious that his Vanya kind of blends into the background for so much of this (obviously not the latter 40 minutes).

Ironically both subtle and in your face with its queer campiness. In college, we read this as an existentialist comedy, but I really do feel like the double identity comedy trope does wonders in a queer context as well.
