Happy birthday dad thanks for seeing lost highway with me
The first time I saw this I didn’t really vibe with it (outside of the soundtrack, even 15 y/o me knew it was incredible) but since seeing it a couple of times more I think this is actually one of his best films. It’s dark and twisted to a degree that his other movies become at times, but rarely for almost the whole runtime like it is here. Minus one…

Logging this late because I’m annoyed that I didn’t log everything I saw in theaters last year. Trying to be a better man this year
Really surprised that I didn’t hate this. It’s not good. But it does feel like there’s something here… I weirdly found the plot interesting even though it’s really stupid, and it’s still really ugly in places… and there’s really bad ADR… and they clearly added entire characters in post production… and the dialogue is really bad……

Very funny. Lots of funny guys in this one. Those little dudes are so cute. Suffers from some weird technical stuff (the editing is pretty… interesting sometimes) and some weak characterization that I mostly assume is due to this being in the oven forever. Unfortunately it does drag it down a bit, especially the climax. Visually great for the most part, especially with all the costuming and extras. Think it peaks with the attempted assassination. Mark Ruffalos goofy ass fake teeth had me dying, every time it cut to him I was staring at those choppers. Best effect in the movie
