Very interesting film. Timothy truly lived his life on edge and pursued his passions to the fullest. Timothy went to extremes that no-one else would in covering animals, for the benefit of animals and to further the knowledge we know about them. The switching between Timothy's perspective and the interviews in the film enhance the story telling aspect of the film. The commentary we see aligns with what went on. This was a visual film. In the film we can see different things: nature, people, a man climbing a mountain. There is no audio in the film. I believe this to be a form of abstract art. There isn't an explicit meaning, but the film is meaningful. I personally think the film is highlighting nature and maybe the man climbing shows what we have accomplished in civilization? The film is interpretative and there are many ways people can interpret this.
L’Âge d’Or is a surreal film that is visually stunning. I admired the abstract ideas presented in the film. I love the camera shots and what Bunel chooses to put on display and focus on. The film creates a sense of uncomfortably in the audience, similar to other films by Bunel like Un chien andalou. Bunel is truly a master of working the camera.
