I feel like everything I hear about this movie in public spaces is negativity, but this was actually an awesome ride. Interesting lighting and the camera actually movement is actually fun as hell.
Some missed steps here and there - biggest of which for me is the name Gabriel just doesn’t quite fit, even if you can tell they’re going for an angel/Devil thing - but this made enough right choices to keep my attention.
Avoided this for years bc it was perpetually overhyped, but it was pretty good! I feel like most of its strength comes from concept alone, but the filmmaking is solid, and Carrey is incredible. Wasn’t expecting it to get into anti-authoritarianism, and love the positivity in the face of the absurd.
Impossible to sum up everything I loved about this movie, but it was an enthralling experience start to finish. 10/10 cinema with incredible humor and sensibility.
I knew it was deemed a ramen western, but I just can’t get enough of how it took a million western tropes and repurposed them for its modern, food-related setting. Goro not only bearing a striking resemblance to John Wayne but just fully being Wayne was an incredible thing to watch. Need someone to match my freak like the couple that passed the egg yolk back and forth, too.
Have had a catastrophically bad week and my mom could tell it’s been getting to me, so she asked to go see a movie with me.
