Dropping a half a star from my original rating. Only because of context. I found the absolute bewildering and batty film very endearing. But to hear that the reason Mann disowned this film was because there is supposedly a three hour cut that studios did a hack job on to make this a 90ish minute film is upsetting. Meaning he probably had a far more coherent and mythos building film PLUS the studio hacks took an extra 90 minutes away from us and if you’ve seen the god tier restoration Vinegar Syndrome did, you’d be upset about that too.

Dead Snow 2009
I feel like my younger self appreciated something about this film that my older self can not figure out. Maybe I’ve now seen too many of the movies that this is just poorly ripping off?
I appreciated the single hammer and sickle moment.
Also, remember to double tap your local Nazis. They’ll come back if you don’t.

Exactly what it should be. B-Movie with a budget. Solid action, goopy gore, fucking gross, and a lotta dead nazis.
A lesser film would have made the obvious choice (and a mistake) by playing this ridiculous premise tounge-in-cheek, but to the massive benefit of all involved they play this straight as hell.
