  Superman 1978

  Oh yes. Anytime the theme starts playing, when Christopher Reeves opens up his shirt to display the big S, when he catches Lois Lane and says “I got you”…that’s  all great stuff. Great supporting work from everyone, solid effects, fun writing—the current DC and MCU brain trusts need to go back and watch this and try harder to emulate it.

  I’m not sold on Nancy Allen’s performance and John Lithgow is a little bit cartoonish but so what. DePalma doing that DePalma stuff I love with the camera work, editing, score, and just building suspense. Good stuff.

  There’s a lot to like here—all that spy craft nonsense, music, pacing, Naomie Harris, and of course, Pierce (never made a bad movie!) Brosnan,  but ultimately, I dunno, I wanted more. Is Mixed Bag too obvious of a pun?  Probably but I’m going with that anyways.
