    If it weren’t based on a true story, it would seem too ridiculous to imagine all of this happening to one family. While perhaps they could’ve condensed and abridged, the end still pays off with a poignant call express emotion, and a call to fathers of sons to make that okay.

    I had high hopes for this, as Bong, Pattinson, Sci-fi Satire are all my favs. I’m left a bit disappointed as it felt like a reshuffle of familiar tropes and premises from other works. The director’s quirkiness shines through in the small ways (the pigeon man directing the march for example), but his big swings felt a bit too over the top.

    A magical movie, honest in its depictions of the unfairness of the immigrant experience, but refusing to give in to it. Also a great illustration of finding something to love in anyone, no matter how unbearable. Tilda was incredible as always. 

    Also the Craigslist sequence was hilarious and a perfect portrayal of the feeling one gets wading into those waters in desperation. I’m glad my freelance days are behind me.
