the first third was so *chef’s kiss* the cinematographer popped off
the last two thirds were kinda mid for me, overall impression was that they didn’t commit. It wasn’t scary like the marketing promised, but not full expressionist goth wet dream of the original in my opinion either. this might just be a case where my expectations were just too high and the film didn’t deliver what I wanted. happy for everyone else who loved it though, and I’m always happy to see more horror/horror adjacent films do well in theaters 🖤 solid 7/10
