  I've never really cared for Bob Dylan's music or persona so I didn't expect to like this. It felt like a very generic musician biopic to me with nothing new to say; I didn't feel anything besides simmering irritation for the entire runtime. The leading performances were convincing but felt superficial to me, that's probably moreso a limitation of the writing.

  So I just heard Kubrick made Nicholson eat a cheese sandwich, which he hated, every day of filming or something. Just to mess with him. What a goober! I wonder what other sort of wacky mind games he got up to with his actors...

  Started off the new year with this, I actually was completely unaware this was a musical so that was a surprise when the mechanics started singing! Stupid me wanted to see it because of the pretty colors and it didn't disappoint! I loved how conversational the music was. Is that what opera is?? Beautiful and brutal. Absence makes the heart grow fonder (unless it makes the heart go yonder).

  Any time even a minor inconvenience comes my way this year you better believe I'll immediately hear that swelling orchestral theme dramatizing the moment.
